During the trip you will visit many unique sights of Kamchatka, including the active volcanoes Mutnovsky and Avachinsky, which are considered to be the most beautiful volcanoes of Kamchatka. You will also see the amazing and beautiful Valley of Geysers.
You will be able to take a boat trip along Avacha Bay, the Pacific Ocean, and the helicopter tour to Valley of Geysers. You will raft on the Bystraya river, which flows through stately mountain ranges. You will be able to watch the wild nature of Kamchatka, including brown bear, salmon, and birds.
Tour itinerary:
Day 1 Thu. 21 July – If you start the tour in Tallinn, we meet in Tallinn Airport, take the flight to Moscow and then to Irkutsk. You can start your trip from other cities (Riga, Vilnius, Helsinki, etc.)
Day 2 Fri. 22 July – Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Arrival at the airport; transfer to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (20 km). Accommodation at a hotel (DBL); walking through the city.
Day 3 Sat. 23 July – Free day. If you’d like you may choose to take a helicopter excursion to the Valley of Geysers, and fly around the volcanoes Karymsky (1486 m) and Maly Semyachik (1560 m), and take a walking trip into the valley. This valley cannot be compared to any other place on Earth. There are more than 20 big geysers in the valley: Velican (Giant), Zhemchuzhny (Pearly), Sakharny (Sugary), Troinoi (Triple), Konus (Cone), Fontan (Fountain), Maly (Small), Bolshoy (Big), Shchel (Split), to name a few. Some gush forth every 10-12 minutes, while others may erupt once every 4-5 hours. The wreathes of steam, fountains of boiling water, incredible colours of the surrounding slopes, and the profuse greenery of grasses and trees create an enchanting spectacle. Lunch is served at the Valley. In the evening, you will drive to Avachinsky volcano by off-road vehicle (45 km); accommodation at a tourist retreat in house with room for 4-10 people.
Day 4 Sun. 24 July – Ascent to Avachinsky volcano (2749 m); walking to the young volcano cone, from which a stunning view could be seen: Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski, Elizovo, valley of Avacha river and Avacha Bay, Vilyuchinsky, Mutnovsky and Gorely volcanoes, the Nalychevo river valley, Zhupanovsky and Dzenzur volcanoes. The massive cone of Koryak volcano can also be seen. Ascent takes about 6-8 hours. If the climb is too difficult, it is possible to return to camp; accommodation for a night in houses.
Day 5 Mon. 25 July – Walking on the slopes of the volcano Koryaksky, and to the mountain under the name “Camel” (4-5 hours); driving to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky; accommodation at a hotel (DBL).
Day 6 Tue. 26 July – Driving to the Bystraya river (120 km); beginning of the river rafting trip, amongst grand mountain ranges; watching the unspoiled nature of Kamchatka; eating a fish-soup dinner by a campfire; spending the night in tents.
Day 7 Wed. 27 July – While rafting you can fish, pick mushrooms and berries, as well as watch birds, ducks, and many other animals, including bears and Steller’s sea eagles; spending the night in tents.
Day 8 Thu. 28 July – Finish rafting along the Bystraya river; driving to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (180km); accommodation at a hotel.
Day 9 Fri. 29 July – Boat trip along Avacha Bay; watching sea bird colonies on the islands Babushkin Kamen (Granny’s Stone) and Tree Brata (Three Brothers); voyage in the Pacific Ocean to the island Starichkov, where you will have the opportunity to fish at sea, watch nesting seals on the island shores, and see whales and dolphins; lunch is fresh fish soup; driving to Mutnovsky volcano by off-road vehicle (100 km); setting up the camp and spending the night in tents.
Day 10 Sat. 30 July – Ascent to the crater of Mutnovsky volcano (2323 m); seeing active fumaroles, mud siphons, mud craters, and the mountain lake; spending the night in tents. The crater of Mutnovsky volcano is one of the most wonderful volcanic phenomena of Kamchatka. Steep walls surround crater, with shining glaciers within. Ascent takes 8 hours. If it is too difficult for anyone, it is possible to return to camp.
Day 11 Sun. 31 July – Excursion to Gorely volcano (1829 m, 8 hours); walking along a hardened lava-stream, seeing slag fields, as well as 3 craters with lakes in them; driving to the recreation department in the resort area Paratunka; accommodation in hotel (DBL), bathing in hot springs and thermal pools.
Day 12 Mon 01 Aug – Flight back to Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, Helsinki etc. via Moscow.
The company has a right to change the itinerary of the tour in case of changes to ferry schedules, adverse weather and road conditions, strikes, health conditions affecting travellers or other issues not caused by Sandberg Travel.
